CIRCUMCISION, THE SIGN OF THE COVENANT

Inspiration From The Following Bible Verses Genesis 17:7-8 "I will keep my promise to you and your descendants in future generations as an everlasting covenant. I will be your God and the God of your descendants. I will give to you and to your descendants this land in which you are now a foreigner. The whole land of Canaan will belong to your descendants for ever, and I will be their God. "Exodus 29:45-46" I will live among the people of Isreal, and I will be their God. They will know that I am the LORD their God who brought them out of Egypt so that I could live among them. I am the LORD their God. Circumcision, The Sign Of The Covenant We are descendants of Abraham. God asked Abraham to circumcise every man with him, young and old and, He obeyed. Circumcision is a sign of the Covenant God made with Abraham.Verses 1-6 of Genesis 17 narrates Abraham's encounter with God, mind you, before that, he was called Abram. He was ninety-nine years when the LORD appeared to him, God asked him to obey Him and always do what is right. God told him that He would make a covenant with him and give him many descendants. Abram in reverence bowed with his face touching the ground. God made a covenant with him, He promised that He will be the ancestor of many nations. Then, God changed his name from Abram to Abraham because he was to be the ancestor of many nations (with some becoming kings.Abraham's descendants are so many now that they have become nations, God kept His promise. In verse 7, God said that He would keep His promise to Him and to His descendants in future generations as an everlasting covenant. We are the future generations God talked about, God's covenant applies to us as well, for every man born from Abraham time till today is still circumcised and that is a sign of the covenant. Now more than ever, we can draw closer to God, it doesn't matter what the world is turning into, God always found someone who pleased Him and that could be you. Just because morality is detorieting doesn't mean you shouldn't be virtuous. You can be a child of God only if you would repent, confess your sins and ask for forgiveness. Confess that Jesus Christ is your LORD and master and have faith in Him. Believe me God would nurture your growth in Him.Amen
